I am a new Game Master (GM) and this blog chronicles my adventure in developing and running my own (and first ever) campaign. I am by no means an expert and these posts track my progress in improving my skills. My hope is that others will be inspired to take the leap into becoming a GM.

Session 1 left off with the players receiving a note after battle. They were able to decipher the contents and derived a general direction from where the attack originated. This session begins right where we left off with our players deciding what to do next. After the battle, and conferring with Bella Steele, the heroes decided to take a night to rest before setting out in the morning.
Carter decided to take home a stranger. Deciding the spoils of a stranger was not enough, Carter decided to rifle through her companion’s belongings turning up nothing of value. Jules goal was to “get railed,” which she succeeded in, while Tony and Genesis just had a quiet night of rest. In the morning, they all met back up at The Fallen Star to regroup and decide their plan of action.
The next day, after meeting up, the heroes asked around for more information on this Hammer individual. They sought information from Cinders, who referred them to Tooth. The party split up at this point to contact Tooth and Bella. Genesis and Jules, both having Telepathy, were able to keep in contact throughout the afternoon as they continued gathering information. Jules and Tony went to see Tooth. Carter stayed at the bar to gather more info. Genesis sought out Bella to see if she could help.
At Tooth’s, Jules used her Telepathy to contact Tooth, who was busy hammering away at something in the back. Tooth and Jules briefly talked about Hammer with Tooth having no other notion of this individual other than he had many tools around that would fit the bill if she was looking for a hammer. Tony accosted Tooth for repairs to some of his gear. Tooth became rather agitated through these interactions and cast both of them out of his shop. Perhaps Carter was fairing better.
Meanwhile, Carter was approaching various individuals in The Fallen Star demanding information on the whereabouts of this Hammer character. Striking out, Carter approached some rather shady looking individuals and struck up a conversation that proved it could be valuable. That is, until they started asking for an unreasonable amount of money. Their details seemed off, so Carter left them to their meals.
Genesis, finally locating Bella, struck up conversation with Bella on some of the goings on around town that could lead to information on Hammer or why they would attack Project Hope. Bella seemed more concerned about the immediate safety of the town and could not offer assistance to the group. She could not offer supplies either as her concerns were of the town’s immediate needs and supplies that could feed the townspeople were not given away lightly on efforts she believed would be fruitless. Genesis and Jules agreed to meet back up at The Fallen Star to regroup with everyone else.
Starting to become disheartened that they would find any information on this Hammer character, they sought Felix “Starlight” Fox, the local thief oddities merchant to seek out more information and supplies… namely a compass. Upon arriving, Starlight hesitant on handing out information. After realizing Starlight was holding back, Tony stepped up to “talk nicely” to her. Starlight relented and offered some more rare wares that were… “acquired” recently. One of these items was a makeshift compass. Haggling occurred and Starlight loaned them the compass after realizing the heroes were intent on finding Hammer with the caveat that Hammer would pay with his life for attacking the town.
Geared up as best as they could, the heroes started heading northwestward using their questionable compass. Jules was able to calibrate it to a general direction based off the well known direction of Elderglen in relation to Project Hope and the sun. The group travelled for hours before deciding to make it towards the woods to set up camp.
As night drew near, Tony illuminated the surrounding area with his lantern. Carter and Tony started noticing the local wildlife in the shadows as the light reflected off the eyes of unseen creatures. The group tried avoiding the wildlife until they became surrounded and wandered a little too close to the locals. The wolves started to attack.
It wasn’t until this moment that the group realized Genesis was not fond of fighting wolves. She opted to avoid hostility towards them by backing away from the immediate threat. As Genesis backed away from the group and towards the darkness behind her, two wolves lunged out of the darkness in a coordinated attack against Genesis. Genesis continued avoiding wolves as best she could while attempting to quell their hostile emotions with her Telepathy. After this proved to be futile, Genesis was left to landing the occasional, and necessary, jab in with her knife in self defense.
Tony and Jules were in the thick of it for most of the combat. Handling two wolves on their own was a difficult task, but eventually they came out on top after a few lucky shots from Tony and the wolves lack of coordinated attacks. Jules, who seemed a bit “off” during combat, licked the blood from her blade after slaying the first wolf. This, of course, unsettled even Carter.
Carter was busy dealing with one of the wolves attacking Genesis. After a few misses, Carter, while already in range of a wold, lunged towards one of the wolves, firing her pistol and landing a shot on her target, before leaping back away from the wolf in a comic to and fro action that left the others that saw it chuckling.
After the wolves were dispatched, the group, having no real tools or mastery with knifes, left harvesting to Genesis. Ironically, Genesis’ spirit animal is the wolf, which explained her lack of aggression towards her attackers. Impatient as the night grew darker, and possible the hesitation in skinning her spirit animal, Genesis salvaged the wolves hide and meat from the corpses. However, with her emotions getting the better of her, the quality of work was shoddy at best and what they were able to harvest will most likely not be usable for long as the deterioration. The group cooked some of the meat for their meal then settled in for the night, resting until morning when they would continue their journey to meet this Hammer character.
